My favourite ornament on the tree this year! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Everyone, Happy Eve before New years eve!!! ( I totally made that up, but it goes) ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ A new year is just a few hours from us… wow…. a whole year.. I can’t believe I kept this up that long… its been more than a year, but you know what I mean ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s been a minute on here. Does thinking about blogging counts?…. I hope so, because I thought so many times of posting .Time didn’t permit :). But thats okay with you I hope…..

* Thinking about blogging…

I wanted to come by and let you know that all is well in sewing land from my end. Still very much in creative love with the craft. The busyness of 2016 was productive and I am definitely proud of being able to work on so many amazing pieces not to mention the amazing new and old customers I gained through my sewing business. Creativity was not limited and I enjoyed the challenging moments that accompanied the process. Least to say, I am grateful from when I started the year and where things are now. There was growth!!Enough to give me hope and propel me into 2017.

A few things that I accomplished, to name a few:

  • I managed to have at least 1 post a month!!! Yayyyyy BIG BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!
  • I posted weekly on instagram!! Yess.. Business promo was weekly and consistent!!
  • I took part in two challenges which encouraged me to take more photos and post on instagram.
  • I did a mini series on my blog which allowed me to post some ideas ๐Ÿ™‚
  • I sewed and sold about 50 pieces for my sewing business ๐Ÿ™‚
  • I got some new clients
  • I took part in another christmas market!!
  • I worked on my business stationery and developed some marketing strategies
  • I organized my sewing room

I am excited for 2017!!!! I am… even as I write this…hopeful for the possibilities.. ย I see everyone posting there best nine.. I probably have more than that. But here are my ‘BEST FEW’ -some of my favourite makes and photos posted for 2016! I love them all but these ones stand out and also showed moments of growth, risks and challenges.

Lastly, I want to take the time out to thank you. Thank you, the old and new followers who have come along side me in the journey from day one to now. It has been pleasure. Your cheers, visits, comments, likes and all that good stuff keeps me going. Thank you. I can only sincerely wish you the very best in 2017. Wish you your hearts desires and your dreams for the new year. I am sure there were discouraging moments in 2016 but because you are here I trust hope propels you further in 2017! Thank you for your continued support!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wishing you and yours a Happy and Blessed 2017!

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew, sew , sewwwwwwwww

Be blessed!

St Patricks Flow: A project abroad!

Hi Folks,

March has been a breeze right! But I have some good posts lined up for you so you can see what I have been up to these past weeks. Lets start off with my sewing chronicles abroad!. Yes, you heard right ABROAD!!

This outfit was birthed while on vacation. …. I know I know.. who does that?… I guess I do. ๐Ÿ™‚ What you love have a tendency of following you around. I guess cause really it is apart of you right…:) hmmmm

So the story of this outfit came about a week ago while vacationing on the beautiful island of Montserrat in the Caribbean sea. All I really needed was a sewing machine which my Cousin’s wife just so happen to have :). My fellow sewer!

Doing some initial alterations the first day of sewing ๐Ÿ™‚

My Aunty was in need of her St Patricks day outfit and had some fabric waiting to be manipulated by yours truly. In no time I got measurements and was self drafting this baby away! Little tools available but I had a vision that needed to become a reality!

Assembling the bodice with the zipper in back

The final product worn on St Patrick’s day! She looked fabulous. I think this just earned itself a spot in the Amshina book of prized projects! ๐Ÿ™‚

Trust you all had a great St Patricks day!

The chronicles of sewing continues… Just keep sewing, just keep sewing.. what do I do I sew, sew…

Until then..

Handmade in a Hurry: My Creative Power break!!

Happy March!

It really takes time to make that perfected custom piece. At least for me it does as I am a bit of a perfectionist. I am still learning so very much in my sewing journey it’s unbelievable ย how many things I have attempted in the past two years from when I started almost 7 years ago. Every project is a learning experience. I kid you not.

And as you all can see from my shared projects I do take some risks here and there. ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess my vision continues to supersede my natural abilities which in the end brings me to the finished product! ๐Ÿ™‚

So back to my subject and the message in this quick post. While I do take my time to make a special order it seems my wardrobe is evolving fast in between projects. hahah…What do I mean by that? ย I have discovered over the last bit ย with the right thread in the machine and some fabric handy I am willing to take that 15 -25 minutes to make a quick skirt or dress just for myself. Oh yeah! handmade in a hurry. I amaze me. ๐Ÿ™‚ I do serge and all too. It’s not sloppy work at all, in my opinion there is just a rush of adrenaline on these 20 mins project that I have to stop and wonder at times why others take more time. But then I realize it’s the perfection streak in me that causes me to slow down and take my time on the special pieces as I want my very best to be put forth. Also that 15-20 mins project break is in fact a power nap in the grant scheme of things. Only problem is I am not closing my eyes but I am shifting from one project to the next to keep the momentum going and coming back refreshed. I can truly say it does refreshes me. See my two latest Creative Power Break ย outcomes below! ๐Ÿ™‚

It is my goal this year to incorporate more of my own pieces in my wardrobe so at least I have started right. I should give my self credit for the quick pieces now, ย I doubt my first blazer will take me 20 mins.hahahaha

For my sewing enthusiasts that sew for others occasionally or on a regular basis I would love to know if youย spend as much time on your own pieces versus a custom piece? Also Do you take Creative Power Breaks?

I am curious to know. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you enjoyed this quick snippet!

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing.. what do I do I sew sew….

Until next time
