Reflections: Showcase Review & Pictures :) :) :)

Hi Guys!

Happy New week!!!!

RAWToronto_VERSE-Ian 6548

Its a great day for a showcase throwback don’t you think. Its been just over a month that AmshinaApparel my handmade custom clothing business had the opportunity to showcase on the RAW- Natural Born Artist platform. If you have never heard of them before please feel free to check them out. It’s an amazing group that gives artist like myself a platform to showcase and share my talent with the community and progress in my branding. The event was well curated and organised by the local staff and was really well done. ย This was my first collection adventure. As you can imagine even though I had a few months to plan it was still quite challenging trying to curate pieces and sew them at the same time, not to mention the model search and fittings that followed this process. Nevertheless, I must say I had some amazing volunteers and friends that came alongside me to offer guidance, support and tangible contributions to making this opportunity a reality. I was and continue to be very grateful to each and every individual from my family and friends near and far.

A special special shout out to my Husband, his cousins and friend that took the time out to record and mix the song. Your support was priceless. Thank you!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

The pieces

Originally I had planned twelve (12) pieces, but a few weeks before showcase one of my models cancelled due to some unforeseen circumstances so I had to make some adjustments. This was okay since I was being overly ambitious in a good way. ๐Ÿ™‚ Still love her. She will be in show no. 2 ๐Ÿ™‚ hahahhah got that ma….lol.

Okay , so on to the eleven (11) pieces that graced the runway in the below order. I also strategically created three sections for my overall presentation. Check out the group shots below too:

Inspiration

Inspiration came from many pieces and places, but I was also inspired by the styles of my models too. Showcasing my pieces were key but also having my models feel comfortable in their looks was paramount. ๐Ÿ™‚

The goal was to showcase my love for print but also the Fit, Function, Fashion and Fun that my pieces offers its wearers. Versatility and style in one look :). My pieces are also geared at different shapes and sizes as you can see in my use of models!:) ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you guys for being patient with my mini review here. You may have seen some on my instagram but its way overdue for a post here. This one definitely is a milestone and learning moment in my sewing journey and I look forward to the next stage! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for your continued support. Stay tuned! The sewing chronicles is definitely continuing. Hope you are all having a great summer! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew, sew sewwwwwww!! ๐Ÿ™‚

The Build-A Closet that works!

It’s the last Monday of May and guess what? The final piece on the Style Monday articles is here!

We have covered quite a bit these past Mondays.

I am proud of myself for the consistency in posting. This in itself was a little challenge that inspired me with my blogging. A blogging milestone you can say. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s only fair to end on a next step look and to bring everything into focus. Not only would you have gained some added tips and maybe even made some decisions about your next closet decision and are ready to create a wardrobe that works for you.

The Build is and should be focused on creating a closet that works for you. Wardrobe pieces that compliment each other and define YOURย unique style.

The word Build signifies a process of some sort. Meaning that all will not happen overnight. It may take you the rest of the year or into 2017 or even more than that. But the goal is that you are and will be making steps towards that new direction of wardrobe happiness and peace. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am still very much in the process of revamping , renewing and adding those pieces into my closet.ย Looking at the silhouettes I love and the pieces that compliment my shape and stature.

Here is an example of a key staple that I can transition with across the season and have incorporated into my closet:The Pencil Skirt. These are perfect with a shirt or blouse, heels, boots, tights, stockings etc. Below shows you some funky prints I have made too.

Now all I need to do is add some other colours and my skirt collection would be complete.. I am thinking.. a plain navy blue, a black and a burgundy…hmmmm

Thanks for tuning in to this little series. It’s really been a pleasure to do this and most of all it allowed me to commit to providing you weekly with a blog post. ( Good practice right..:)). Thanks for your contributions to the posts too.

I have been sewing in between blogs so I have much to share on those too.

See you in June!! Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew, sew, sew…

Have a blessed and productive week!

Dress Rehearsals: The style test!

It was that serious……

Yes…. dress rehearsals. Trying on my outfits prior to an event. It didn’t matter how small the event was I made sure I did a run through to test for a few things.

  • Fit- Too tight, too big? Bulky, bunching, too long , too short Etc.
  • Function-do I have pockets? Would dancing be a problem? Can I sit?What if I fall?…hmmmmm… would I be embarrassingly exposed?Can I reach up? Can I bend?
  • Style- Did the look make sense for the event? Would it be typical? Do I stand out? Would I run into someone else wearing the same thing?

I know the list sounds a bit extreme. But guys… it worked for me.. And it became so routine that soon after going through those steps was natural as walking and didn’t seem laborious in any way. It became my style process.

Now when I look back I can say.. I was developing that eye of what works for me.

It served its purpose and I am happy to say that I no longer do that so much in detail. But with a quick glance and more so knowing what’s in my closet I put my outfits together easily. ๐Ÿ™‚ You can say the process now takes place in my mind before I even get to the closet!

What’s your get ready process in selecting something to wear? Do you have a mini dress rehearsal? I would love to hear.

Thanks for tuning in to part 2 of my mini Monday style series in May! See you next week!

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew sew.

Bless
