Reflections: Showcase Review & Pictures :) :) :)

Hi Guys!

Happy New week!!!!

RAWToronto_VERSE-Ian 6548

Its a great day for a showcase throwback don’t you think. Its been just over a month that AmshinaApparel my handmade custom clothing business had the opportunity to showcase on the RAW- Natural Born Artist platform. If you have never heard of them before please feel free to check them out. It’s an amazing group that gives artist like myself a platform to showcase and share my talent with the community and progress in my branding. The event was well curated and organised by the local staff and was really well done.  This was my first collection adventure. As you can imagine even though I had a few months to plan it was still quite challenging trying to curate pieces and sew them at the same time, not to mention the model search and fittings that followed this process. Nevertheless, I must say I had some amazing volunteers and friends that came alongside me to offer guidance, support and tangible contributions to making this opportunity a reality. I was and continue to be very grateful to each and every individual from my family and friends near and far.

A special special shout out to my Husband, his cousins and friend that took the time out to record and mix the song. Your support was priceless. Thank you!!! 🙂 🙂

The pieces

Originally I had planned twelve (12) pieces, but a few weeks before showcase one of my models cancelled due to some unforeseen circumstances so I had to make some adjustments. This was okay since I was being overly ambitious in a good way. 🙂 Still love her. She will be in show no. 2 🙂 hahahhah got that ma….lol.

Okay , so on to the eleven (11) pieces that graced the runway in the below order. I also strategically created three sections for my overall presentation. Check out the group shots below too:

Inspiration

Inspiration came from many pieces and places, but I was also inspired by the styles of my models too. Showcasing my pieces were key but also having my models feel comfortable in their looks was paramount. 🙂

The goal was to showcase my love for print but also the Fit, Function, Fashion and Fun that my pieces offers its wearers. Versatility and style in one look :). My pieces are also geared at different shapes and sizes as you can see in my use of models!:) 🙂 🙂

Thank you guys for being patient with my mini review here. You may have seen some on my instagram but its way overdue for a post here. This one definitely is a milestone and learning moment in my sewing journey and I look forward to the next stage! 🙂

Thanks for your continued support. Stay tuned! The sewing chronicles is definitely continuing. Hope you are all having a great summer! 🙂 🙂

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew, sew sewwwwwww!! 🙂

Winter/Fall Sewing Part 3- For Him!

Menswear???????? this was a challenge I gladly accepted without a fight and I absolutely loved it and he loves it too.

IMG_3805

We worked on this from scratch together, which involved:

1. Going to the fabric store  and choosing the fabric

2. Drafting the sweater pattern with a T-shirt

3.Three different fittings before final product

By the end of the day the sweater was good as done.:) Team work!

I know, I know, I really do enjoy these right on the spot projects from start to end. A shirt in a few hours, a skirt in a few hours…..aaahh the adrenaline of the novice sewer. 🙂 hahaha. I can only imagine what time can do to this skill as I develop it.

So originally while shopping it was suppose to be a simple sweater. However by the time we came across the “knick naks section”- you know those add ons when sewing. He wanted patch on the sleeves…..hahaha…really!! ( Dude I have never done this before, go easy on the design pleaseeeee).. But hey I guess he had a vision of what he wanted because they came out great. Thanks Designer MV in training..lol

It didn’t stop there, he asked for a hoodie……( my oh my … ) I didn’t argue. With this ask he was generous to accompany it with a youtube video he found on how to do a hoodie. hahaha, my own sewing helper. What a fun afternoon it was. The Hoodie worked guys!!! The whole get up just worked.( we were debating adding laces to the hoodie, either way it fitted well)

This was a really good project for me. Nothing like a great review. He loved both sweaters and of course is very eager to wear them both. He might have just started the mens collection. What do you think? Who knows. These days I am just taking the challenges and going with it. It’s trial and error as I go but at the same time I am learning so much more and becoming much more confident with my sewing.
