Reflections: Showcase Review & Pictures :) :) :)

Hi Guys!

Happy New week!!!!

RAWToronto_VERSE-Ian 6548

Its a great day for a showcase throwback don’t you think. Its been just over a month that AmshinaApparel my handmade custom clothing business had the opportunity to showcase on the RAW- Natural Born Artist platform. If you have never heard of them before please feel free to check them out. It’s an amazing group that gives artist like myself a platform to showcase and share my talent with the community and progress in my branding. The event was well curated and organised by the local staff and was really well done.  This was my first collection adventure. As you can imagine even though I had a few months to plan it was still quite challenging trying to curate pieces and sew them at the same time, not to mention the model search and fittings that followed this process. Nevertheless, I must say I had some amazing volunteers and friends that came alongside me to offer guidance, support and tangible contributions to making this opportunity a reality. I was and continue to be very grateful to each and every individual from my family and friends near and far.

A special special shout out to my Husband, his cousins and friend that took the time out to record and mix the song. Your support was priceless. Thank you!!! 🙂 🙂

The pieces

Originally I had planned twelve (12) pieces, but a few weeks before showcase one of my models cancelled due to some unforeseen circumstances so I had to make some adjustments. This was okay since I was being overly ambitious in a good way. 🙂 Still love her. She will be in show no. 2 🙂 hahahhah got that ma….lol.

Okay , so on to the eleven (11) pieces that graced the runway in the below order. I also strategically created three sections for my overall presentation. Check out the group shots below too:

Inspiration

Inspiration came from many pieces and places, but I was also inspired by the styles of my models too. Showcasing my pieces were key but also having my models feel comfortable in their looks was paramount. 🙂

The goal was to showcase my love for print but also the Fit, Function, Fashion and Fun that my pieces offers its wearers. Versatility and style in one look :). My pieces are also geared at different shapes and sizes as you can see in my use of models!:) 🙂 🙂

Thank you guys for being patient with my mini review here. You may have seen some on my instagram but its way overdue for a post here. This one definitely is a milestone and learning moment in my sewing journey and I look forward to the next stage! 🙂

Thanks for your continued support. Stay tuned! The sewing chronicles is definitely continuing. Hope you are all having a great summer! 🙂 🙂

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sew, sew sewwwwwww!! 🙂

Bless

My Crafty Venture!

So a quick update. On May 20th 2015 I decided to go ahead and launch my etsy shop. Is it a business…I guess in a small sense for now! You think…. I basically see it as a way to answer those questions and needs of friends and family that are interested in purchasing some of my pieces and a good way to showcase and grow in my skill. I like a challenge.

So for now lets just say its a “Crafty venture” I like that term. 🙂 Business scares me… hahah

I had a great opportunity to showcase some of my pieces that I was working on over the last bit at a recent Ministry Luncheon I felt confident. I got really good reviews and that pushed me.

My booth!!! 🙂 So proud of me

I definitely had to make sure I wore something I made! That was a big bonus. Loved this maxi dress

My booth! I have scarves, maxi skirts, Pencil skirts, Kimonos, shoe bags and headbands! I also had a giveaway for the lucky shoppers!

The booth! Do you guys like my handmade Pom Poms! Great touch I thought.

Headbands and signage!

Now whether that was premature or not, I wanted to do this now. Who knows right? Remember my previous posts about taking risks. So here goes! I have so many ideas and ways to get this going but I will pace myself. At least I started it!. 🙂

Please feel free to just check it out. Here is the link to my Etsy shop, Facebook page and instagram: I welcome your feedback and reviews. As the time goes by I will be adding other items that can be custom made to order! I have since branched out to three social media engines.

1. http://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/amshinaapparel

2. https://www.facebook.com/amshinaapparel

3. https://www.instagram.com/amshina

I only have a few items so far.  If any of you sell on Etsy I welcome your tips and feedback as always and of course share your links so I can visit your shop too!

Thanks

God bless

Times 2 -The Summer Onesy Repeated!!!

Everything nice, must come twice….

IMG_1867

I think life in part entails duplicating those things that add to your existence. You know, the good stuff, the good qualities, good habits….and I could go on. But what I am trying to say is that when you have done something that is good duplicating it can only get better. JUMPER NO.2. It was another project and it turned out awesome. I attempted jersey fabric once more. ooooooh no I didn’t, sure did!

Tada!!!

IMG_1905

You all know behind each project there is a story, so here goes the 411 on how the jumper was born.

How it all happened

Onesy no. 2. can be seen as a Rush job. Hahah. That kind of lingo makes me sound like a custom made sewer right. Between my friend liking the fabric, trying on my yellow jumper and desiring one of her own, I started drafting the jumper in no time.

Yes, that’s where the magic happens. My cutting area “THE FLOOR”.  The pants and top were cut out and by the end of the evening I had sewn the top and pant separately. Lining up the stripes were key in this project as it was my first time working with stripes and it was critical to the overall look.

There she is, my model and one of my awesome friends CB. Can you tell she absolutely loved the finished product. Nothing like bringing a smile to the face of someone. 🙂

Models are hard to find, but all I ask of my pals as I try out these new pieces is to send me photos when out and about or to have me take photos of them in the outfits. So yes, the jumper style has migrated from my closet into the closet of a friend. I like that.

In hindsight this project was not planned

It was not planned but given the few hours I spent on it, I think it is safe to say jersey material is definitely growing on me. I was not as fearful as the maxi skirt experience or the first jumper. I welcomed the challenge and was finished in no time and best of all my friend loved it.

I do have two other projects lined up using jersey knit, so stay tuned for more.
