I thought this was worth re posting.. I am no fashionista but I can relate! 🙂

Thanks for sharing Global Garcon!

Throwback – Memory Lane!

Whatever happened to the first pattern I attempted and how it turned out? A few years back.. I just realized I never posted it…anywhere..I thought it came out beautiful despite the challenges.

About one year into sewing and not at all familiar with patterns as I learned how to start using measurements only this project came into being. You can imagine how nervous and excited I was to try this. It was a good challenge.

I called it the ” Green Box Cart” because it was a shift style.

I was determined to showcase that I can sew by wearing my own piece in public. I didn’t just picked a mellow event to wear it, I picked a big one.

Can you guess?

A wedding!!!!!!! You got it…Go big or go home right!

Here is the Pattern:

I used a Sateen cotton as fabric, my first time using it. Cutting out the pattern pieces were all dandy and good. But sewing the facing was horrific. I couldn’t get the shape right or I cut it too small. In essence, lets just say you didn’t want to see the inside of this dress initially. I tried my best to clean it up as the wedding was still the place I would wear it.

Project completed..hmmm not bad…Trying on for size

I rocked this dress. I accessorized with some heels, jewellery and a flower. It was a fun night. I even caught the bouquet!

Cheers to the lovely couple, to a fabulous night and of course the icing on top my ” Green Box Cart Dress” 🙂

Hope you all enjoyed  my trip down memory lane. I sure did.. Thanks to my fellow blogger at Idaaidasewing  who was so gracious enough to share her first piece and inspired me to dig deep to find this project.  What’s your first pattern/project story? Do share?

The sewing journey continues… It can only get better right… ( Perhaps a few variations this summer of the box cart..hmmmm)

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do we do we seeeeeeeeewwwwwwww….

Winter Sewing: “My One of a Kind Shimmer Shrug!

Shimmer away with this cool, calm and classy piece. Shrugs are definitely in. A relative to the cardigan, this piece will add sass to your wardrobe in minutes. This was a cool, quick piece. Out of the fabric store straight to the machine type of project. 🙂 Casual yet dressy. Unfortunately this was the end of the fabric bolt at the little Fabric store and as such it is definitely a one of a kind. The feel and flow of the fabric is just perfect. The fabric definitely cooperated with me. IMG_4519   IMG_4524 IMG_4529 The sewing adventure continues. Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do I do I sewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww 🙂 Thanks for stopping by UtaC

U-Feature: Infinity Scarf

U-Feature: A pictorial presentation of my favorite pieces sewn.

This first feature captures the sweater infinity Scarf. Definitely the only one I have made to date. It was a reconstruction project made using an XXXL mens sweater that produced this beautiful functional piece. Love it, I am yet to find a similar sweater to repeat this number! The search continues…..

Expanding my sewing family.Does she inspire you?

My purchase to myself this Christmas, a Dress Form. Yay! So much to choose from, so expensive too. My local fabric store had a 50% sale off the forms.. .Perfect timing and within my price range.

Thanks to the support from family and friends who ordered scarves from me over the past two months. Your support not only gave me added sewing confidence but also inspired me to take my sewing to the next level with regards to garment construction.

After setting up the form from the box, it was like instant ideas started to flow. Not only do I have my own model but there are so many things to try and to experiment with now. While I was limited in my thinking of trying clothes on the form for fit only, I am seeing the endless possibilities my new found sewing addition could have. Her name is “Sistah”

What about you? Do you have a form? Would you get one and why?

I would love to hear from the experts too on your experience owning one of these and how it has helped your sewing and or creativity.

Until next time, just keep sewing, just keep sewing, what do we do we seeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!
